Welcome Back to New Orleans!

On behalf of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to announce the return of the LOA Annual Meeting, March 18-19, 2022, at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans.

Dr. Jourdan Cancienne, our program director, has developed an exciting program including three outstanding keynote speakers who will be joining us this year.

Dr. Joel Boyd is a leading sports medicine specialist with extensive experience as head physician for teams in the NFL and NHL, as well as team physician for NBA and Olympic hockey teams.  Dr. Boyd will be speaking on the treatment of multiple ligament knee injuries and also on Willie O’Ree, the first Black NHL player.

Dr. Lee Osterman is the current President of the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center, widely recognized as a master of hand and upper surgery, and a dynamic speaker. He is an active member and Past President of the American Association of Hand Surgery and the current Chairman of the Hand Fellowship Directors for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.  Dr. Osterman will be providing insights from his extensive experience and will also be part of a special segment of the meeting devoted to our younger members.

Dr. Rick Wright is chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and one of the nation’s leading sports medicine specialists.  He is the Past President of the American Orthopaedic Association, Senior Director, and Past President of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  Dr. Wright will be speaking on revision ACL reconstruction and also providing an update on the ABOS certification process.

In addition to our regular meeting, LAMMICO will present a discussion on Friday and Saturday  morning. A 15% discount on medical malpractice expenses is provided for all members attending both sessions.

You are also invited to attend the President's Reception with exhibitors at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans from 5:00 - 6:30 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022. The winner of the Top Resident Paper Competition will be announced at this event and then Resident teams will compete in the 2nd Annual Skills Competition. Finally, don’t miss the Inaugural Resident Quiz Bowl Competition that will complete the Saturday session.

The LOA Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to reconnect with your orthopaedic colleagues, share experiences, learn from our keynote speakers and earn valuable continuing medical education.

We look forward to seeing you back in New Orleans at the 2022 LOA Annual Meeting.
