The LOA Annual Meeting will return February 3-4, 2023 to the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel. On behalf of the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association Board of Directors, it is a pleasure to announce and invite you to one of the Best State Orthopaedic Society meetings in the country.
The Meeting Program will be action packed and our Program Director, Dr. Brian Etier has designed an outstanding agenda. Symposia will cover upper and lower extremity topics, numerous scientific paper presentations from our members will be given, and residents will compete for the top resident research paper. Friday night’s cocktail reception at the Hilton Riverside from 5:00-6:30pm will coincide with announcement of the winner of the Top Resident Paper Competition and Residency Program Quiz Bowl - creating an environment ripe for competition and heckling! Dr. Etier has three keynote speakers joining us this year:
Dr. Mark Miller is the S. Ward Casscells Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and division head for Sports Medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Mark is a Sports Medicine Specialist who focuses on knee and shoulder reconstruction and educating residents all over the world; he created the most successful orthopaedic review course - The Miller Review Course, now in its 27th year. Dr. Miller will speak about ACL reconstruction and about the importance and impact of continuing research in our practices.
Dr. Adam Anz is a Sports Medicine Specialist at the Andrew’s Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Dr. Anz trained at the Steadman Clinic and has special interest in regenerative medicine. Adam trained internationally and is published on stem cell biology and cell therapy. Dr. Anz will educate us on the most up to date concepts and procedures using cell therapy to treat our patients.
Dr. Benton Emblom is a Sports Medicine Specialist at the Andrews Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Emblom was a previous Andrew’s Sports Fellow and then completed additional training in arthroscopic and mini-open hip surgery. Dr. Emblom has special interest in the treatment of Core Muscle injuries, or Sports Hernias, and will update us on his methods of their diagnosis and management.
The annual LAMMICO risk management lectures will be presented on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. A discount on medical malpractice expenses will be provided for all members attending both sessions. We appreciate LAMMICO’s continued support of the LOA.
The LOA Annual Meeting is always a great opportunity to reconnect with your orthopaedic colleagues, share experiences and cases, learn from our keynote speakers and earn valuable continuing medical education hours.
We look forward to seeing you back in New Orleans at the 2023 LOA Annual Meeting.
Sincerely,
Matthew D. Williams, MD
